Didgeridoo Crafting Immersion

Didgeridoo Crafting Immersion – Pūpūkea, O'ahu June 27 & 28, 2026

Join us for a two-day immersive experience at Hale Ānuenue in Pūpūkea, O'ahu, where you will learn to craft your own didgeridoo from locally harvested agave. This hands-on retreat combines traditional craftsmanship with modern guidance, giving you the tools and techniques to create a fully functional, personalized instrument. Over the course of two days, you will explore every step of the process—from preparing and shaping the agave to refining the instrument’s tone and resonance. Alongside the practical work, you will experience the natural beauty and tranquility of Hawai‘i, allowing space for focus, creativity, and deep engagement with the craft. By the end of the immersion, you will leave with your own handcrafted didgeridoo, as well as the skills and knowledge to continue exploring this ancient art on your own.

*No experience necessary.

Immersion Flow

Things included in this immersion:

  • All materials to craft your own agave didgeridoo (Hawai’i agave piece, hardwood for mouthpiece, epoxy, wood lacquer, wood glue, sandpaper, everything you’ll need to craft a beautiful long lasting didgeridoo)
  • Sound journey experience
  • Night time fire jam & community connecting
  • Water and fruit from the ‘āina (what’s ripe and available at the time)
  • Overnight camping (Bring your own tent if you decide to stay the night)

Things not included in this immersion:

  • Tent, sleeping gear (please bring your own or sleeping in your car is also an option)
  • If you have gardening gloves, please bring a pair in case you'd like to use them while hollowing your agave. Hands can get a little blistered from the process so always good to have in case.
  • Food (Please bring any food or drinks you’ll need for the two days) *Hale Ānuenue is 5 minutes from a grocery store so if you need to leave to get something, it’s very convenient and quick
  • Toiletries for showering (There is a facility to use the restroom and an outdoor shower to rinse off)

Immersion Schedule:

Flow is loose and just a general overview, all dependent on the timing it takes for each process.

8pm - Fire jam and share

10pm - Quiet hour

Sunday 6/28

9am - Gentle movement, yoga flow (optional)

11am - Sanding/aesthetics on outside of didgeridoo

1pm - Food/beach break

4pm - Sound journey

6pm - Closing ceremony and departure

*Please be aware that there will not be a class/workshop on how to play the didgeridoo in this immersion as your didgeridoo will take a little time to cure before being able to play. There will be tips and tricks shared during the immersion as a starting point. We will be having a separate workshop all about learning how to play the didgeridoo a week after the immersion. If you feel called to join that class, there will be a heavily discounted price for you. If you bring a friend to the immersion, you’re didgeridoo playing class will be free.

IMPORTANT - You will have the option to choose your agave stalk upon signing up with your deposit or you can choose from the ones that are available when you arrive at the immersion. Agave stalks with a big flare out bell shape will cost an extra $200 as they are harder to craft and take more material like epoxy. If you are choosing a stalk that is skinny with no big bell, it is included in the price of the immersion. Please note that the note/key the didgeridoo will be after completion is dependent on a few factors; (length & width of stalk, bell/no bell). We can always tune the didgeridoo higher in pitch so choosing the best agave stalk for the pitch/note you would like will need some assistance. Some people want to feel each stalk before choosing, some want a specific key because they have other instruments in the same key, and some just want to craft one leaving it up to the didgeridoo to choose the key/note for them. Either option is perfect, but if you’d like a specific key, it would be best to choose it at the immersion. If you would like an agave stalk with a big bell and a specific key, let’s hope on a call to see what you’re looking for. Send me a message with your name, number, and what you're looking for and we can schedule a call from there.
